About TECTONIC

TECTONIC is a daily spatial word puzzle played on a five-by-five letter grid. The five letters within each vertical column keep their order, but the whole column can rotate up or down and wrap around the edge. Each shift changes one position in every horizontal row, so a move that completes one word can disturb four others.

Your goal is to align all five columns so that all five rows spell valid five-letter words at the same time. A row lights up whenever its current letters form a word, providing useful feedback without locking that row in place. The published puzzle has one complete arrangement. Par is the fewest single-column shifts needed to reach it from the starting grid.

Look for columns whose letters create distinctive beginnings or endings, and use completed rows as evidence rather than permanent commitments. Since every column cycles through only five positions, you can reason about offsets instead of moving blindly. The arrow buttons shift one step at a time; pointer and touch players can also swipe a column. Reversing a move is always possible, although every shift still contributes to the result's move count.

The result compares your own moves with par and converts that difference into a spoiler-free share motif; it never exposes the solution rows or starting layout. Your daily streak is included only for the shared daily puzzle, which changes for everyone at 00:00 UTC. Reopening restores the exact grid and move count. Archive and Random past puzzle links open aired boards in separately bounded practice storage, so experimentation cannot alter the daily record, streak, or lifetime distribution. Keyboard focus remains visible on every control, and reduced-motion settings suppress settling and pop animations without removing game feedback.
